Breastfeeding Supports
There are a number of free supports for women who wish to breastfeed their babies. Breastfeeding is most easily established immediately following a baby's birth.
If you wish to breastfeed your baby and are encountering difficulties, don't wait to seek assistance.
Breastfeeding Support Centre (RQHR)

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region invites all breastfeeding mothers and babies to drop-in to the Breastfeeding Support Centre for free advice and practical help from a lactation consultant or public health nurse.
Mothers will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns about breastfeeding and receive advice and support. For more information, call (306) 766-7533.
The Breastfeeding Support Centre is open Wednesdays (1-4pm) at Population and Public Health (North Office), 204 Wascana St. and also Fridays (1-4pm) at the Regina General Hospital, Maternity Visiting Program (15th Ave. Entrance; Medical Office Wing).

La Leche League Groups

All women interested in breastfeeding are welcome to attend a series of four meetings with content varying depending on the current focus and needs of those present. Any time is a good time to come to a La Leche League gathering: when pregnant, with a new baby or when considering weaning.
La Leche League meetings are invigorating gatherings of mothers and babies/toddlers held in a private home.
While a series of four meetings with the following topics is rotated throughout the year, the specific content varies significantly depending on the current focus and the needs of those present. Meetings for mothers of toddlers and for couples are also available from time to time.
Meeting 1: The Advantages of Breastfeeding to Mother and Baby
Meeting 2: Baby Arrives: The Family and the Breastfed Baby
Meeting 3: The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties
Meeting 4: Nutrition and Weaning
All Leaders are experienced breastfeeding mothers who are trained to provide up-to-date breastfeeding information, encouragement and support. As Leaders are volunteers answering calls from their homes, please call during daytime/early evening hours if possible.

Lactation consultants (RQHR)
Lactation consultants provide FREE help with breastfeeding through the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. To contact a consultant, or for more information please call (306) 766-3700.
Breast Friends Support Group (RQHR)

This group is a support circle bringing together both new mothers and expectant moms to learn about breastfeeding from each other. Childcare is provided.
Participation in this group run through the Four Directions Community Health Centre is free of charge and any mother or expectant mother in the North Central area is invited to participate in the group. For more information, call (306) 766-7540.
